The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned state chairmen and other party officials against demanding money from support groups for registration, insisting that the process is free.

The party issued the warning in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, in Abuja on Friday.

According to the statement, registration of support groups is handled exclusively by the party’s Directorate of Support Groups at the national headquarters in Abuja and does not attract any fee.

Director therefore directed all inquiries and registration requests from support groups to the Directorate, stressing that no state chapter or party official had been authorised to register support groups or collect money for the process.

The NDC spokesman urged all state chapters to comply strictly with the directive, warning that any violation would attract disciplinary action in line with the party’s constitution.He said the party valued the support and partnership of various support groups, including the Obidient and Kwankwasiya movements.

Director added that the NDC would continue to provide an enabling environment for support groups to participate in the party’s activities and work towards its success at all levels.
