An aircraft carrying 32 people has disappeared from radar while travelling from Lagos to Benin, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has disclosed.

According to the minister, the aircraft, identified by tail number NGR 931, lost radar contact at about 9:13 a.m. Preliminary information indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were on board, bringing the total number of persons aboard to 32.

Keyamo said the wreckage of the aircraft has been located, while search and rescue teams have been deployed to the area and are currently conducting operations.

The development has raised concerns over the safety of those on board, with authorities expected to release more information as rescue teams assess the scene and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The minister urged the public to await verified information from the relevant authorities as the search and rescue operation continues.
