Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has sought the approval of the State House of Assembly for the reappointment of three commissioners who served in his first-term administration and the appointment of 10 Special Advisers.
The request, contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, on Monday, comes barely 10 days after Oyebanji was inaugurated for a second term.
The governor requested the screening and confirmation of the following commissioner-nominees:
1. Dayo Apata (SAN) – Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
2. Akintunde Oyebode – Commissioner for Finance.
3. Oyebanji Filani – Commissioner for Health and Human Services.
According to the governor, the proposed appointments are aimed at constituting key components of his administration early and ensuring continuity in critical sectors of governance.
The offices of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Finance, and Health and Human Services were identified as crucial to the effective take-off of the new administration, particularly in view of prevailing developments in the country.
The request for legislative approval comes as the Oyebanji administration begins its second term, with a focus on sustaining governance and strengthening service delivery across the state.
The governor also sought the Assembly’s approval for the appointment of 10 Special Advisers to support the day-to-day administration of the state.
It will be recalled that Oyebanji last week approved appointments in the power and road infrastructure sectors, as well as the transportation sector.
The latest move signals the administration’s efforts to fill key positions and consolidate its governance structure following the governor’s inauguration for a second term.
The statement was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, on October 27, 2026.
