Ghana Makes Health Declaration Form Mandatory For All Incoming Travellers From November 12.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that all travellers arriving in the country will be required to complete a mandatory online health declaration form from Thursday, November 12, 2026.

The directive, contained in a statement dated November 7 and signed by the Director-General of the GHS, Dr Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, requires all passengers travelling to Ghana to complete and submit the form before embarking on their journeys.

According to the health service, travellers are expected to access and complete the form through its electronic health declaration portal before departure.

It said the measure was introduced to strengthen public health surveillance and preparedness, improve the monitoring of potential health risks and protect the well-being of residents and visitors.

The GHS urged prospective travellers to comply with the directive, while calling on airlines, travel agencies and other relevant stakeholders to inform passengers about the new requirement.

The announcement comes amid the spread of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in parts of Africa, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya and Nigeria.

The World Health Organisation says the Democratic Republic of the Congo continues to record sustained transmission of the disease, while Kenya and Nigeria have also reported imported cases.

Nigeria confirmed an imported case on October 20, after which the patient was evacuated to Switzerland for medical treatment.

Health authorities had identified 62 contacts for monitoring as of November 3.

Although the Ghana Health Service did not directly link the new directive to the Ebola outbreak, the country had earlier introduced enhanced health screening and monitoring measures at its international airports in response to the outbreak.
