NSCDC sanctions 79 personnel over misconduct, recommends prosecution of two officers.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sanctioned 79 personnel for various acts of misconduct, including dismissal, compulsory retirement and recommendations for criminal prosecution.

In a statement by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, the NSCDC said disciplinary investigations involving 75 officers had been concluded. The officers were found culpable of offences ranging from employment fraud, financial misconduct and theft to unauthorised absence from duty and activities considered detrimental to national security.

The Corps disclosed that two officers were dismissed over their alleged involvement in an incident that led to the death of the Commander of the Mining Marshals, Levi Agada, in Rafin Gabas, Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on February 18, 2026.

It said the officers unlawfully discharged firearms during an operation targeting suspected illegal mining activities and have also been recommended for criminal prosecution.

The NSCDC further revealed that four other personnel are currently undergoing disciplinary investigation over allegations of illegal arms trafficking, while investigations are continuing into other suspects linked to the destruction of critical national assets and arms smuggling.

The Corps said the disciplinary actions were taken in line with established procedures aimed at strengthening professionalism, accountability and integrity within the organisation.
