The Edo State House of Assembly on Wednesday reconstituted its standing committees, with Speaker Hon. Yekini Idaiye announcing the new chairmen and members during plenary.

Hon. Yekini Idaiye will chair the Selection Committee, while Hon. Atu Osamwonyi of Orhionmwon I heads the Tender Board Committee. Hon. Charity Iguodala of Ovia North-East I chairs the Public Petitions Committee, while Hon. Uzamere Andrew of Ovia North-East II heads the Public Accounts Committee.

Other committees announced include Agriculture and Food Security, Appropriation, Water Resources and Energy, Commerce and Industry, Education, Environment and Sustainability, Judiciary, Sports and Humanitarian, among others.

The Arts and Tourism Committee, previously headed by suspended former Speaker Hon. Blessing Agbebaku of Owan West, is now headed by the representative of Owan East.

Meanwhile, the House refered three bills for further consideration, including the proposed repeal of the Bendel State Post-Primary Education Edict, 1988, and bills on retirement age for magistrates and customary court presidents, and landed property documentation.

The sitting was adjourned to Monday, August 31, with the motion moved by Minority Leader Hon. Natasha Osawaru and seconded by Hon. Sunday Aghedo.
