The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekiti State Command, has appointed Commandant Sotiyo Igbalawole Emmanuel as its new State Commandant.

Sotiyo formally assumed office as the 18th substantive Commandant of the NSCDC Ekiti State Command, taking over from Commandant Toma Matthew Enya during a handing-over ceremony at the command headquarters along the Ado-Ikere Road.

The leadership change followed the redeployment of Enya to the Osun State Command, where he also took over from Sotiyo.

Speaking after the handover, Commandant Sotiyo expressed appreciation to the NSCDC Commandant-General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for the confidence reposed in him by assigning him the new responsibility.

He commended the outgoing commandant for his achievements and contributions to the development of the Ekiti Command, while wishing him success in his new assignment in Osun State.

Sotiyo described his appointment as both a privilege and a call to greater service, promising to justify the confidence placed in him by the leadership of the Corps.

In his inaugural address, the new commandant emphasised the importance of unity, teamwork and cooperation among officers and personnel, noting that effective security service delivery requires a coordinated approach.

He urged officers and men of the command to remain committed to their statutory responsibilities and work collectively in the interest of the people of Ekiti State.

According to him, a united command would be better positioned to respond effectively to security challenges and contribute to the peace, safety and development of the state.

The leadership change is part of the ongoing redeployment of senior officers within the NSCDC aimed at strengthening command structures and improving operational effectiveness.

Sotiyo Meets Ekiti Deputy GovernorShortly after the handing-over ceremony, the outgoing commandant, Enya, led his successor on a courtesy visit to the Ekiti State Government Office.

The new commandant was received by the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs Monisade Afuye, who represented Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.During the visit, Sotiyo reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to supporting the state government in maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and securing critical national assets and infrastructure.

New NSCDC Boss Seeks Stronger Security CollaborationSotiyo also paid a courtesy visit to the Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana (rtd.).The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and improving coordination among security agencies operating in Ekiti State.

The new commandant stressed the importance of intelligence sharing, inter-agency cooperation and prompt response to emerging security threats.

He assured that the NSCDC under his leadership would continue to support efforts aimed at maintaining peace and protecting critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.

In his response, Brigadier General Ogundana welcomed the new commandant and assured him of his office’s support and cooperation.

He emphasised the need for security agencies to work closely together to effectively protect residents and address security challenges confronting the state.

The series of engagements marked the beginning of Sotiyo’s tenure as the new NSCDC Commandant in Ekiti and provided an opportunity for him to establish working relationships with key government and security stakeholders.
