The Presidency has said President Bola Tinubu never promised Nigerians an Eldorado within three years, insisting that the country’s economic challenges require time and sustained reforms to address.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, stated this on Monday while reacting to criticism of the Tinubu administration and its Renewed Hope Agenda.
In a post shared on his X handle, Dare accused opposition figures of lacking original ideas and a clear blueprint for governance, alleging that their campaigns were centred largely on attacking the policies and programmes of the current administration.
According to him, rebuilding Nigeria’s economy is a gradual process that cannot be completed within a short period.“Campaigning against the results and impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda is now their stock in trade.
No original ideas. No blueprint,” Dare said.“President Tinubu did not promise Eldorado in three years. No country solved its challenges in four years. It’s always a journey.”
The presidential spokesman said the Federal Government would continue to defend what he described as the bold decisions and reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.
He maintained that the government would continue to highlight the results of its policies and ensure Nigerians understand the ongoing efforts to rebuild critical pillars of the nation’s economy.
“The opposition continues to attack the successful and bold decisions of President Tinubu. We will continue to point the results out and defend them,” Dare added.
“We will make Nigerians understand deeply that the rebuilding of the pillars of our economy is ongoing, and those eager to gain power are desperadoes who have nothing to offer except their greed for power.”
Dare also dismissed claims that the opposition had presented viable alternatives to the Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that critics of the administration must move beyond attacks and provide practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
The comments come amid continued political debates over the economic reforms and policies introduced by the Tinubu administration since assuming office.
