Vice President Kashim Shettima has asked friends, associates and well-wishers to avoid organising public celebrations or placing congratulatory advertisements as he marks his 60th birthday on September 2, 2026.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has opted for a low-key celebration of his 60th birthday, urging Nigerians and his associates to focus their attention on national development rather than personal festivities.
Shettima made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday, August 29, 2026, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.
The Vice President specifically appealed to friends, associates and well-wishers not to organise public birthday celebrations, congratulatory gatherings or goodwill advertisements across print, broadcast and digital media platforms.

According to Shettima, the decision to keep his 60th birthday celebration low-key was informed by his belief that public attention should remain focused on the development of the country.
He said the milestone should not distract from the “serious work of national development,” urging his well-wishers to channel their goodwill towards prayers for Nigeria and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Shettima asks Nigerians to pray for Nigeria
The Vice President called for prayers for the success of the Federal Government’s economic reforms, an end to the country’s security challenges, national unity, peace and prosperity.
He specifically requested prayers for “the success of the administration’s economic reforms, lasting solutions to the nation’s security challenges, greater national unity, and the peace and prosperity of all Nigerians.”
Shettima is expected to clock 60 years on September 2, 2026.
