Tinubu’s Reforms Will Shape 2027 Election, Delivering Measurable Results — Alausa.
The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has said the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration are beginning to yield measurable results and will play a significant role in determining the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
Alausa, who made the assertion in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Ikharo Attah, said the Federal Government had taken difficult but necessary decisions aimed at strengthening the economy, improving macroeconomic stability and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.
The minister maintained that Nigeria’s economic progress was being supported by data and assessments from credible domestic and international institutions, rather than political narratives.
He cited reports and assessments by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, Bloomberg and the National Bureau of Statistics as evidence that the government’s economic policies were producing measurable outcomes and improving confidence in the Nigerian economy.
According to him, key economic indicators are beginning to show positive trends, with inflation gradually easing, economic activities expanding and other macroeconomic indices recording steady improvements.
“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” Alausa said.

The minister said the administration remained committed to ensuring that the reforms were sustained and continued to benefit Nigerians beyond the tenure of the present government.
He added that the government’s focus on fiscal discipline, structural reforms and long-term economic stability was already producing positive outcomes across various sectors.
Alausa said the reforms were positioning Nigeria for more inclusive economic growth, increased productivity and sustainable national development.
He further stated that as Nigerians continued to experience the impact of the government’s policies, the administration’s record would speak for itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The minister also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving citizens’ welfare and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
President Tinubu’s administration has, since assuming office in May 2023, introduced major economic reforms, including the removal of petrol subsidy, the unification of foreign exchange windows, tax and fiscal reforms, as well as measures designed to increase domestic revenue and attract investment.
While international financial institutions, including the IMF and World Bank, have commended some of the reforms for addressing longstanding structural challenges, the policies have also been criticised over their impact on Nigerians, particularly rising inflation, high food prices and the increased cost of living.
The Federal Government has consistently defended the reforms, arguing that the short-term economic difficulties are necessary to restore macroeconomic stability, strengthen public finances and put the country on a sustainable growth trajectory.
The administration has also introduced several social intervention and economic support programmes aimed at cushioning the effects of the reforms on vulnerable households and businesses.
