The Ekiti State House of Assembly will commence its Account of Stewardship sessions for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and tertiary institutions across the state on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The exercise, which will take place at the Assembly Complex, Ado-Ekiti, is aimed at reviewing the activities, programmes and financial stewardship of various government establishments over an 18-month period, covering January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, disclosed this in a statement issued from his office on Friday, August 28, 2026.

According to him, the stewardship sessions will enable lawmakers to assess budget performance and determine the extent to which government establishments have contributed to the actualisation of the Shared Prosperity Agenda of the Biodun Oyebanji administration.

Ekiti Assembly exercises constitutional oversightOke described the exercise as an important constitutional responsibility of the House of Assembly, particularly in ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.

He said the review would allow lawmakers to examine how appropriated funds had been utilised by government ministries, departments, agencies and tertiary institutions.

The lawmaker noted that the exercise was in line with Sections 100, 128 and 129 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, which confer oversight powers on state Houses of Assembly.

He urged all affected MDAs and tertiary institutions to strictly adhere to the timetable previously communicated to them.

The statement added that political heads of the establishments are expected to appear before the Assembly alongside their top management teams to render accounts of their stewardship.

First batch of institutions to appear September 1

The exercise will begin on Tuesday, September 1, with the following establishments scheduled to appear before the House:

The House urged all concerned participants to avoid lateness, absenteeism and other forms of unethical conduct throughout the exercise.

Participants are expected to be seated at the Assembly gallery by 9:30 a.m., while the sessions will commence promptly at 10:00 a.m.
