President Bola Tinubu has said he will prioritise governance over attending every campaign rally ahead of the 2027 presidential election, tasking members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to coordinate mobilisation efforts across the country.
Tinubu made this known on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, where he acknowledged the need to devote greater attention to the country’s affairs while the party prepares for the forthcoming election.
The president said he agreed with the decision to prevent campaign activities from distracting him from his official responsibilities, stressing that Nigeria currently requires more attention from his administration.
“You’ve warned me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance, I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision. Nigeria needs more attention now,” he said.
Tinubu explained that the country’s financial commitments and economic priorities required his continued involvement in governance, adding that attracting investors willing to establish long-term businesses in Nigeria remained a major priority.
“We want those investors to come in, be here to stay, to invest for the future of our children,” the president said.
He, however, assured Nigerians that his decision not to attend every campaign rally would not prevent him from maintaining direct communication with citizens.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council is expected to coordinate political mobilisation across states and local government areas as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
