The Ekiti State Government has commenced the issuance of appointment letters to 1,522 newly recruited junior healthcare workers to address manpower shortages and improve service delivery across Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in the state.
The Chairman of the Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Funke Ogunbunmi, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, describing the recruitment as a significant intervention to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
Ogunbunmi said the recruitment, approved by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, reflected the administration’s commitment to improving residents’ health and ensuring access to quality medical services across communities.
She explained that adequate staffing was essential to building an effective and accessible healthcare system, adding that the new personnel would improve operational efficiency and strengthen frontline health facilities.
According to her, the appointment letters are being issued to successful candidates in three categories: Laboratory Assistants, Health Assistants and Health Attendants.
She said the exercise commenced on Wednesday, October 28, at the agency’s registry in Ado-Ekiti and would run until Tuesday, November 3.
Ogunbunmi added that the 1,522 successful candidates were being attended to in batches of 300 daily to ensure an orderly collection and verification process.
She urged the candidates to report to the registry from 10 a.m. on their designated days with the original copies of their credentials for verification.
The agency noted that appointment letters would only be released after the necessary documents had been verified.
It also advised successful candidates to check the published list and comply with all stated requirements to facilitate the collection of their appointment letters.
