A Federal High Court in Abuja has nullified the nomination of retired Major General Nuhu Angbazo as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State for the 2027 election.
Justice Mohammed Umar, who delivered the judgment, ordered the party to conduct a fresh governorship primary in Karu Local Government Area within 14 days.
The court also restrained Angbazo from parading himself as the ADC governorship candidate and barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from further recognising him as the party’s nominee.
The judgment followed a suit filed by former Minister of Environment, Mohammed Abdullahi, who contested the ADC governorship primary alongside Angbazo and Senator representing Nasarawa South, Mohammed Onawo.
Justice Umar held that the primary election was inconclusive because results from Karu Local Government Area were excluded, thereby denying party members in the area the opportunity to participate in the process.
Reacting to the judgment, counsel to the plaintiff, Professor Mubarak Adekilekun, described the ruling as a victory for the party, noting that it effectively compels the ADC to conduct another primary in the affected local government.
