NYSC Postpones Orientation Camp Opening in Sokoto and Niger States.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger states due to ongoing renovation works at the orientation camps.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the extension became necessary as rehabilitation projects by the respective state governments are yet to be completed.
Under the revised timetable, the orientation course in both states will now begin on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The cut-off and swearing-in ceremony has been scheduled for Friday, August 14, while the closing ceremony will hold on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
NYSC advised all prospective corps members deployed to Sokoto and Niger states to adjust their travel plans accordingly and avoid embarking on night journeys to their orientation camps.
The scheme stated that the postponement was solely to allow the completion of renovation works and ensure a conducive environment for corps members during the orientation exercise.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of NYSC, Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe travels to their respective orientation camps as preparations continue nationwide.
