Nigerian Army Releases Shortlist for SSCC 50/2027 Recruitment Exercise.

The Nigerian Army has released the list of shortlisted candidates for the Short Service Combatant Commission, SSCC, Course 50/2027 Selection Board exercise.

The Army announced this on Thursday through its official X account, directing applicants to check their status on its recruitment portal, nashortservice.army.mil.ng.

Shortlisted candidates are expected to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy, Ribadu Campus, Old Site, Kaduna State, from November 23, 2026, for the selection exercise scheduled to end on December 11.

The SSCC programme provides qualified Nigerian civilians and serving military personnel with the opportunity to become commissioned officers in the Combat Arms, including Infantry and Armour, as well as Combat Support Arms such as Artillery, Engineers, Signals and Intelligence.

Successful candidates who complete the training are typically commissioned as Second Lieutenants under a 15-year short service commission.

The Army has advised applicants who submitted applications between mid-August and October 17, 2026, to check the portal and take note of their reporting instructions and required documents.

Candidates are expected to present original copies of their educational certificates, birth or age declaration documents, state of origin certificates, National Identification Number and Bank Verification Number slips, alongside duly signed photo-slips and guarantor forms.

The Army also warned applicants against fraudsters, unofficial recruitment websites and agents demanding payment, stressing that all stages of the recruitment process are free.

It urged shortlisted candidates to prepare for the medical, physical and interview assessments, while advising the public to rely solely on its official recruitment portal for accurate information.
