Comrade Adeyinka Fadumiye, initiator of Action Group Renewal Organization (AGRO) Nigeria, has criticised Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, over his alleged presence at a solidarity walk for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ado-Ekiti amid recent flooding in parts of the state.

Fadumiye, in a statement on Wednesday, described the governor’s alleged participation as inappropriate, arguing that attention should have been focused on residents affected by the floods.

He urged Oyebanji to visit affected communities, assess the damage and provide immediate relief to victims, particularly families who may have lost homes, businesses or loved ones.

The criticism followed heavy rainfall that caused flooding in parts of Ado-Ekiti and neighbouring communities, with reports of people feared swept away by floodwaters.

The Ekiti State Government had acknowledged the flooding and advised residents to avoid flooded areas and follow safety and evacuation advisories.

Fadumiye also called for a comprehensive assessment of affected areas and long-term measures to address recurring flooding in the state.
