Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved a 13th-month pension bonus for all pensioners in the state, alongside a one-off welfare support of ₦10,000 scheduled for November 2026.

Eno announced the approval on Friday at Ibom Hall grounds in Uyo during the presentation of a merit award by the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, where the pensioners also endorsed his second-term bid.

The governor said the initiative was aimed at appreciating pensioners for their meritorious service to the state, stressing that his administration would continue to prioritise the welfare of retired workers and elderly citizens.

Eno expressed appreciation for the pensioners’ show of gratitude and organisation, noting that retirement should be a period of rest and comfort after years of dedicated service.

He said he was humbled by the recognition, adding that although the pensioners had retired from active service, they remained valuable members of society.
