Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has said he would withdraw from the party’s 2027 ticket and campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu if the price of petrol drops to ₦600 per litre.
Amaechi made the statement while reacting to the Federal Government’s economic policies and President Tinubu’s recent Independence Day address during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He questioned whether Nigerians were already experiencing the economic improvement highlighted by the President.
The former Rivers State governor said he would personally visit a filling station to verify the price of petrol. According to him, if petrol sells for ₦600 per litre, he would campaign for Tinubu.
Amaechi further challenged anyone who doubted his statement to accompany him with a camera to the filling station, insisting that he would withdraw from the ADC ticket and support Tinubu if the price had fallen to the stated amount.
The statement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with Amaechi currently on the ADC ticket alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
