CDCFIB Disowns Fake Recruitment Update, Warns Applicants Against Fraudulent Notice.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has cautioned job seekers against a fake recruitment update circulating online, claiming that a status-check portal for the next phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise will open on Monday, August 3.
The Board issued the warning on Sunday through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, where it described the announcement as false and misleading. To further alert the public, CDCFIB shared a copy of the purported notice and boldly stamped it with a red “FAKE” watermark.
According to the forged announcement, candidates who participated in the recent medical screening exercise would be able to check their recruitment status through the official recruitment portal beginning August 3. It also claimed that successful applicants would proceed to subsequent stages of the recruitment process, including fitness assessments and oral interviews.
The fake document, dated August 1, 2026, carried an electronic signature purportedly belonging to the Secretary of the Board, Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), in an apparent attempt to lend credibility to the false information.
However, CDCFIB categorically disowned the notice, stressing that it did not originate from the Board and should be disregarded by all applicants. The agency urged prospective recruits and members of the public to rely solely on information released through its verified communication channels.
The warning comes amid the ongoing recruitment exercise into four federal paramilitary agencies — the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).
Thousands of applicants across the country are participating in the exercise, which has already advanced through physical and medical screening stages. The medical screening phase was conducted on June 22, 2026.
The Board noted that no official announcement has been made regarding the next stage of the recruitment process and advised applicants to remain vigilant against misinformation and fraudulent schemes designed to exploit unsuspecting job seekers.
CDCFIB reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent recruitment exercise and assured applicants that any genuine update would be communicated through its official platforms.
