Court Fixes January 27 For Judgment In Tukur Mamu’s Alleged Terrorism Financing Case.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed January 27, 2027, for judgment in the terrorism financing case instituted by the Federal Government against Tukur Mamu, the alleged negotiator during the 2022 Abuja-Kaduna train attack hostage crisis.

Justice Mohammed Umar fixed the date on Monday after lawyers to both parties adopted their final written addresses and presented their arguments.

Mamu’s counsel, Johnson Usman, SAN, urged the court to acquit and discharge his client, insisting that the prosecution had failed to establish the allegations.

The defence also questioned the prosecution’s handling of a firearm allegedly recovered from Mamu’s residence, particularly the failure to produce its licence in court.

However, the prosecution lawyer, David Kaswe, maintained that the licence and firearm had already been tendered as exhibits and urged the court to convict Mamu.

Mamu, who was arrested by Egyptian security officials at Cairo International Airport in September 2022, was initially charged with terrorism financing alongside other offences.

The amended charges also include alleged unlawful possession of firearms and money laundering.Justice Umar adjourned the matter until January 27, 2027, for judgment.
