EFCC Freezes Osun Government Account 10 Days to Governorship Election.

Tension has risen in Osun State following reports that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen one of the state government’s accounts barely 10 days before the governorship election.

According to documents, the affected account, domiciled with First Bank, has been placed under a “Post No Debit” restriction by the anti-graft agency.

The account is said to be one of the channels used by the state government for the payment of workers’ salaries and other official obligations.

The development has sparked concerns over the possible impact on government operations, particularly as the state prepares for the crucial governorship poll scheduled to hold later this month.

While details surrounding the action remain unclear, sources indicated that the restriction was initiated by the EFCC as part of ongoing investigations. Neither the Osun State Government nor the anti-graft agency had issued an official statement on the matter as of the time of filing this report.

Political observers have, however, noted the timing of the action, coming just days before voters head to the polls to elect a new governor.
