An Ekiti State Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has revoked the bail earlier granted to All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, Abimbola Jumoke Olawumi, over allegations of blackmail, cyber bullying and death threats against the Chief Executive Officer of agro-allied company, YSJ Limited, Yemisi Joluwe.

Olawumi was initially arraigned before the court on July 23 on a four-count charge bordering on the alleged offences. She pleaded not guilty and was granted bail on self-recognition.

During the latest proceedings, counsel to the defendant, Ayokunle Odunayo Okunade, apologised to the court over Olawumi’s absence, explaining that she could not attend due to health challenges.

However, the police prosecutor, Samson Osobu, opposed the explanation, describing the defendant’s absence as unjustifiable.

Osobu told the court that despite claiming to be ill, Olawumi was allegedly active on social media platforms on July 26 and 27, where she reportedly continued to make abusive, threatening and intimidating statements against the complainant and other prominent individuals in Ekiti State.

The prosecutor argued that the alleged actions amounted to a violation and abuse of the bail conditions earlier granted by the court.

He urged the court to revoke the bail and issue a bench warrant for the defendant’s arrest.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun expressed disappointment over Olawumi’s failure to appear before the court, stressing that individuals granted bail are expected to strictly comply with the conditions attached.

The magistrate subsequently revoked the bail earlier granted to the APC aspirant and issued a bench warrant for her arrest.

The matter was adjourned until August 17, 2026, for further hearing.
