13 Feared Killed, Several Missing as Suspected Herdsmen Attack Benue Community.

No fewer than 13 persons have been confirmed dead, while several others remain missing following a deadly attack by suspected herdsmen on Efeyi community in Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to information gathered, the assailants stormed the village on Tuesday and opened fire on residents, triggering panic as many fled for safety.

Sources in the area said that 13 bodies have so far been recovered, while search efforts are ongoing to locate several persons who are still unaccounted for.

The full extent of casualties and destruction is yet to be officially determined as security agencies continue to assess the situation.

When contacted for confirmation, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Edet Udeme, said she was yet to receive full details of the incident but assured that she would provide updates as more information becomes available.

The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents linked to suspected armed herders in parts of Benue State, raising renewed concerns over the persistent insecurity affecting rural communities.
