“Life Doesn’t Pause” – Taaooma Opens Up About the Personal Struggles Behind Her Comedy Success

Popular Nigerian content creator and comedian Maryam Apaokagi, widely known as Taaooma, has opened up about the emotional challenges she faces behind the scenes while continuing to entertain her massive online audience. The skit maker revealed that there have been moments when she battled personal difficulties but still had to create content and meet professional commitments.

Speaking in a recent interview, Taaooma explained that being a public figure does not exempt her from life’s struggles. According to her, there were periods when she was dealing with private challenges, yet she remained committed to delivering the comedy content that fans eagerly expected from her.

The award-winning entertainer noted that she learned an important lesson during those difficult seasons: allowing herself to be human. She credited her family, friends, and support network for helping her navigate tough moments, adding that their encouragement reminded her that she did not have to face every challenge alone.

Taaooma also shed light on the demanding process of playing multiple characters in her skits. Known for seamlessly switching between four or five personalities in a single production, she explained that the task goes far beyond changing costumes or wearing different wigs. To make each character believable, she must fully embrace their mindset, speech patterns, and mannerisms.

The comedian revealed that many of her characters are inspired by real-life experiences and people she has encountered over the years. Growing up around vibrant Nigerian personalities provided endless material for her creative work, while everyday conversations often spark ideas that later become memorable comedy scenes.

When asked which of her popular characters best reflects her real personality, Taaooma pointed to “Tao” as the closest representation of herself. She explained that while every character contains pieces of her experiences and observations, Tao remains the easiest role to play because it mirrors many aspects of who she truly is.
Her candid remarks have since resonated with fans, many of whom praised her honesty and dedication to bringing laughter even during challenging times.
