Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, has participated in a high-level dialogue at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, where global leaders and diplomats discussed Africa’s expectations of the new UN Secretary-General.

Fayemi joined other prominent participants at the dialogue, which focused on Africa’s role and expectations within the global multilateral system.

His participation brought his experience in democratic governance, peace-building, sustainable development and international cooperation to discussions on Africa’s place in global affairs.

The former governor has, over the years, participated in national, continental and international engagements on issues concerning governance, development, democracy and multilateral cooperation.

His appearance at UNGA 81 further placed Ekiti among the Nigerian states represented through the participation of prominent figures in international policy discussions.

The engagement also provided an opportunity to highlight Africa’s expectations and aspirations as the continent continues to seek a stronger voice in global decision-making.

Fayemi’s participation at the UN General Assembly comes as part of broader international conversations on Africa’s development priorities, global partnerships and the future direction of the multilateral system.
