The Federal Government has evacuated another 105 distressed Nigerians from South Africa, bringing the total number of Nigerian nationals repatriated from the country since June 10, 2026, to 1,821.

The latest exercise marked the 13th consular evacuation from South Africa since the repatriation programme commenced, according to the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry said 1,388 of the 1,821 Nigerians evacuated so far were repatriated with full funding from the Federal Government.

It disclosed that the evacuation of 100 of the latest 105 returnees was funded through a $265,854 donation by the Redeemed Christian Church of God for the purchase of one-way tickets for 500 distressed Nigerians seeking to return home.

The remaining five Nigerians were evacuated through a donation from a private Nigerian citizen.The ministry said the Nigerian diplomatic mission in South Africa was continuing discussions with the RCCG leadership, philanthropic organisations and individuals to facilitate the return of other distressed Nigerians.

It added that some Nigerians currently undergoing preliminary clearance with the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg and relevant South African authorities would be evacuated once the process was completed.

The Federal Government expressed appreciation to the RCCG, led by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, for supporting the repatriation exercise.It also commended other organisations and individuals that had partnered with the government to assist Nigerians seeking to return from South Africa.

The ministry reiterated the government’s concern over attacks targeting Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa.“The Federal Government remains deeply concerned about persistent xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks against Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa,” the ministry said.
