Nigeria’s Flamingos have been crowned champions of the 2026 WAFU-B Under-17 Girls Cup after defeating Togo 4-0 in the final in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The victory saw Nigeria finish the competition with maximum points after five matches, dethroning Ghana as the regional champions.

Captain Chidera Harmony opened the scoring in the 15th minute from the penalty spot after Kemi Adegbuyi was brought down inside the box.

Harmony doubled Nigeria’s advantage with another penalty as the Flamingos continued to dominate, with Adegbuyi causing problems for the Togolese defence with her pace and skill.

Nigeria went into the break with a comfortable lead before Oluebube Umejiaku came off the bench to add a third goal seven minutes after the hour mark.

Adegbuyi completed the scoring with a minute remaining before the 90-minute mark, sealing a comprehensive 4-0 victory for the Flamingos.

The WAFU-B triumph now provides Nigeria with a boost ahead of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco next month.

The Flamingos have been drawn in Group B alongside defending champions North Korea, Poland and Puerto Rico. Nigeria will begin its World Cup campaign against Poland on October 17 in Salé.
