IGP Disu Assures Nigerians of Police Readiness for 2027 Elections.

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force is fully prepared to ensure the successful conduct of the 2027 general elections.

Disu gave the assurance on Tuesday in Abuja during a courtesy visit by a delegation led by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel, Dr Leonardo Simao.

The police chief said the force had conducted several training exercises involving personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service and the Department of State Services ahead of the elections.

He explained that the training covered election security, inter-agency cooperation and measures to ensure the participation of all eligible voters, particularly persons living with disabilities.

According to Disu, police officers have been trained to identify persons with disabilities and understand how to assist them during the electoral process.

He expressed confidence in the force’s preparedness, insisting that the police were ready to perform their constitutional responsibilities even if the elections were to commence immediately.

“So far so good, we are not afraid. We are confident that even if the elections start tomorrow, the Nigerian Police Force is ready to do what is expected of the force,” he said.

Disu further assured the delegation that Nigerians would not be disappointed with the conduct of police personnel before, during and after the 2027 general elections.
