INEC’s Initial Omission of My Name Boosted NDC Support – Gwarzo.

The Kano State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has said the initial omission of his name from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) list of candidates has boosted the party’s popularity and attracted more supporters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Gwarzo’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, disclosed this in a statement, describing INEC’s subsequent reinstatement of the candidate’s name as a vindication of the party’s position that it had complied with all electoral and nomination requirements.

Shuaibu said the party remained confident throughout the controversy, insisting that its membership registration, primary election and submission of the candidate’s particulars were conducted in accordance with the relevant regulations.

He said the development, which initially appeared to be a setback, had instead generated public sympathy, increased attention and renewed interest in the party.

According to him, the restoration of Gwarzo’s name had strengthened the party’s confidence and motivated its supporters to remain committed to its political aspirations.

Shuaibu added that the controversy would not distract the NDC from its preparations for the 2027 election, noting that the party remained focused on grassroots mobilisation, engaging residents and presenting its vision for Kano State.

He said Gwarzo and the party leadership were committed to pursuing their political objectives through lawful and democratic means, while urging supporters to remain peaceful and disciplined.

The spokesperson added that the NDC would intensify its mobilisation efforts and expand its political presence across the 44 local government areas of Kano State ahead of the election.
