Joint Revenue Board Commends Delta, Ondo Over Tax Harmonisation Reforms.

The Joint Revenue Board (JRB) has commended the governments of Delta and Ondo states for their progress in tax harmonisation, describing the developments as significant steps towards strengthening Nigeria’s tax reform agenda.

The commendation followed the signing of the Delta State Tax Harmonisation Bill into law by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the successful passage of the Ondo State Harmonised Tax Bill by the state House of Assembly.

In a statement, the board, through its Communication and Stakeholder Liaison Department, said the two developments demonstrated growing commitment to harmonising taxes and levies at the subnational level.

The JRB noted that effective tax harmonisation would promote transparency, improve coordination in tax administration and create a more business-friendly environment.

According to the board, the reforms would also help eliminate multiple taxation, encourage voluntary compliance among taxpayers and enhance sustainable revenue generation.

It stressed that a simplified and efficient tax administration system was essential to supporting businesses and strengthening Nigeria’s overall revenue framework.

The board described the actions taken by Delta and Ondo states as important milestones in the implementation of tax reforms across the country.

“Together, we are building a simpler, fairer and more efficient tax system for all Nigerians,” the statement said.
