Nigeria at 66: PDP Urges Nigerians to Keep Hope Alive Despite Challenges.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the economic and social challenges facing the country, saying Nigeria has the resources and potential to achieve greater development.

The party made the call in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, in Abuja on Thursday to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

The PDP acknowledged that Nigeria and its citizens were yet to reach their desired level of development but urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country’s future.

Mohammed said Nigeria remained endowed with abundant human and natural resources which, if properly harnessed alongside the country’s ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, could drive national unity and progress.

He called on Nigerians to promote peace, unity and national cohesion while urging political leaders and citizens to demonstrate patriotism and reject violence and corruption.

The PDP spokesman also urged Nigerians to place national interest above personal and sectional considerations, particularly in the interest of younger generations.

He said the country must create an environment where young Nigerians can pursue their aspirations with confidence and have greater opportunities to contribute to national development.

Mohammed reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to democracy, good governance and the welfare of Nigerians, saying the party would continue to position itself as an alternative platform for leadership.

He also called on Nigerians to remember the sacrifices of the country’s founding fathers and others who contributed to national development.

The PDP said the 66th Independence anniversary should serve as an opportunity to renew collective commitment to building a better Nigeria and restoring hope for future generations.
