The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a former employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Isaac Zegbe, and his alleged accomplices over the suspected vandalism and theft of electricity cables worth more than N350 million.

The suspects were arrested following an investigation into the alleged theft and vandalisation of electricity infrastructure.

The NSCDC said preliminary investigations indicated that the former AEDC worker and his accomplices were allegedly involved in the illegal removal and theft of electrical cables belonging to the power company.

The command said the recovered cables and other items linked to the alleged offence were being used as evidence as investigations continue.

The suspects are expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations, in accordance with the law.
