NSCDC Arrests Two Suspected Railway, Cable Vandals in Kano.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected vandals during separate intelligence-led operations in Kumbotso and Nassarawa Local Government Areas of the state.

The State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Kano.

According to him, the suspects were identified as 22-year-old Gath Gamaliel, a resident of Zango, Kaduna State, and 31-year-old Salisu Jibrin from Kurna in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

Agalama said Gamaliel was arrested at Panshekara in Kumbotso Local Government Area with 17 vandalised railway clips, while Jibrin, described as a suspected receiver of stolen property, was apprehended at Yankaba in Nassarawa Local Government Area when he arrived to collect about 60 kilogrammes of suspected vandalised copper wire.

He said the recovered materials were believed to have been illegally removed from public infrastructure.

The commandant said the arrests underscored the NSCDC’s determination to protect critical national assets and infrastructure across Kano State’s 44 local government areas and tackle economic crimes capable of undermining national development.

He added that investigations were ongoing to identify other members of the suspected criminal syndicates, noting that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigations.

Agalama also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies to help protect the nation’s critical infrastructure.
