Oyebanji Orders New Military Bases, Police Station Completion to Boost Security in Eda Oniyo.

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has directed the establishment of additional military formations in the Eda Oniyo axis of Ilejemeje Local Government Area as part of efforts to strengthen security, protect lives and property, and prevent future security breaches in the border community.

The governor also ordered the speedy completion of the divisional police station currently under construction in Eda Oniyo, describing the facility as a critical component of the community’s security architecture.

Oyebanji gave the directives while receiving a delegation from Eda Oniyo Community led by the Eleda of Eda Oniyo, Oba Julius Awolola, during a thank-you visit to his office.

The governor said the deployment of additional security formations would further enhance surveillance, improve response time to security threats, and reinforce the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of residents in the area.

He acknowledged that Eda Oniyo had suffered slow development over the years due to the prolonged legal dispute over the headquarters of Ilejemeje Local Government Area.

He, however, assured residents that his administration would focus on transforming the town into a community befitting its status as a local government headquarters.

According to him, the government remains committed to delivering infrastructure and development projects that will improve the quality of life of the people and stimulate economic growth in the area.

Earlier, speaking on behalf of the traditional ruler, the President of the Eda Oniyo Progressive Union, Dr Rufus Ojo, said the purpose of the visit was to express the community’s profound appreciation to the governor for his interventions during the recent security challenges experienced in the area.

Ojo commended the governor’s swift response and support, noting that the interventions had helped restore confidence among residents and strengthened security in the community.

The visit also provided an opportunity for community leaders to reaffirm their support for the state government’s efforts to promote peace, security and development across Ekiti State.
