Police arrest suspected Cultist in Efon Alaaye.

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old man, Sunday Samuel, suspected to be a member of a cult group in Efon-Alaaye Ekiti.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, the suspect, a resident of Isare Street, Efon-Alaaye, was arrested on August 7, 2026, at about 11:45 p.m., following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Efon Division.

The statement said police operatives commenced investigation after receiving information about the suspect’s presence within the town, leading to his arrest.

A locally made single-barrel gun loaded with one cartridge and a mobile phone were reportedly recovered from the suspect.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ado-Ekiti, for further investigation.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling cult-related activities and other forms of criminality in the state.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information to the Police, assuring that discreet monitoring and security operations are ongoing across Ekiti State.
