A support group for President Bola Tinubu, known as the Tinubu Grassroots Network, TGN, has distributed educational materials to students of some senior secondary schools in Ekiti State.
The beneficiaries include students of Odo-Oro High School, Odo-Oro-Ekiti, and Babalola Borisade High School, Usi-Ekiti, who received notebooks, while some students were also presented with cash gifts.
Speaking during the presentation, the Convener of TGN, Mr. Foluso Ojo, said the gesture was aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents in providing educational materials for their children.
Mr. Ojo said the initiative was also designed to encourage the students to remain focused on their studies and believe that they can achieve greatness irrespective of their family background.
He urged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously, saying his own background should serve as an encouragement to them that determination and hard work can help them achieve their aspirations.
Also speaking, the Patron of TGN and Programme Director of the Presidential Initiative for Compressed Natural Gas, Pi-CNG, Engineer Michael Oluwagbemi, said President Bola Tinubu places a high premium on education.
Engineer Oluwagbemi said the back-to-school initiative was therefore in line with the administration’s emphasis on supporting education and improving opportunities for young Nigerians.
He commended the leadership of TGN for supporting students at the grassroots and urged the beneficiaries to make proper use of the materials provided to them.
The principals of Odo-Oro High School, Mr. Timothy Jegede, and Babalola Borisade High School, Usi-Ekiti, Mr. Sunday Ajayi, commended the Convener of TGN, Mr. Foluso Ojo, for selecting their schools as beneficiaries of the programme.
They said the gesture would complement the efforts of parents and teachers in providing a conducive environment for learning.
Two of the beneficiaries, Oladele Temitope and Salami Azeezat, expressed appreciation to Mr. Foluso Ojo for extending the gesture to them.
They promised to make good use of the educational materials and remain committed to their studies, while praying God to reward the TGN Convener abundantly for his support.
