Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the immediate release of two buses to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan following the club’s impressive victory in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

The buses, comprising a 32-seater and an 18-seater, are expected to support the movement and other operational activities of the Ibadan-based football club as it continues its continental campaign.

The approval was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.

According to the statement, the governor’s gesture followed Shooting Stars’ victory over Tunisian side CS Sfaxien in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The state government said the intervention demonstrated Makinde’s commitment to supporting the Oluyole Warriors as they represent Oyo State and Nigeria on the continental stage.

Shooting Stars’ current campaign marks the club’s first return to continental football in 27 years.Makinde also assured supporters of the club that his administration would continue to provide the necessary backing to ensure Shooting Stars remain competitive in their quest for continental success.

The government, according to Oyelade, is determined to sustain the club’s current momentum and restore the historic glory of the team, popularly known as the “Darling Club of Oyo State.”

The commissioner urged the players, technical crew and management of Shooting Stars to remain focused and committed to the task ahead.He assured the team of the continued support of the Oyo State Government throughout its continental campaign.

Shooting Stars are among Nigeria’s most historic football clubs and will be hoping to build on their first-leg victory as they seek to progress further in the CAF Confederation Cup.
