President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), including three returning officials and three new appointees.
The nominees will serve five-year terms, subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The nominations were conveyed in a letter to the Senate dated October 30, 2026, according to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The three reappointed executive directors are Abiodun Adeniji, for Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Ukoha, for Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, for Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Musa, for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, for Corporate Services and Administration.
According to the statement, Tinubu urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the authority’s regulatory oversight capacity.
The President also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of statutory procedures under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act.
The latest appointments come months after Tinubu appointed Rabiu Umar as the agency’s chief executive in April.
The NMDPRA is responsible for regulating Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.
