The Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate for Ekiti North, Otunba Dr. Olugbenga Peter Obafemi, has declared his intention to prioritise development, employment and improved representation for the district if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Obafemi, popularly known as OPO, made the declaration in a statement issued by his Campaign Media Office in Ikole-Ekiti and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti.
The campaign organisation said the candidate’s agenda would focus on the five local government areas in Ekiti North—Ido-Osi, Moba, Ilejemeje, Oye and Ikole.
According to the statement, Obafemi said his decision to contest was informed by concerns over the challenges facing farmers, traders, youths and elderly residents across the district.
The campaign office also highlighted his reported philanthropic activities, including scholarships for indigent students, empowerment for widows, artisans and market women, as well as support for farmers and community initiatives.
Obafemi said, if elected, his office would remain accessible to constituents and would provide a platform for the people of Ekiti North to communicate their needs to the National Assembly.
The campaign organisation said the candidate chose the SDP because of its emphasis on social welfare, justice and people-oriented governance.
It further announced plans for a ward-to-ward engagement tour covering all 56 wards in the senatorial district, where Obafemi is expected to interact with traditional rulers, women, youths and other community stakeholders.
The campaign called on residents of Ekiti North to support the SDP candidate, describing the 2027 election as an opportunity to advance the district’s development agenda.
