Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called for urgent improvement in the living conditions of more than 1,000 internally displaced persons at the Ramin Kura IDP Camp in Sokoto State.

Obi made the call after visiting the camp during his two-day visit to the state.Obi expressed concern over the condition of the displaced persons, urging the government to provide better facilities and essential support to improve their welfare.

He said displaced Nigerians deserved access to decent shelter, healthcare, clean water and other basic necessities while they remain in the camp.

The visit to Ramin Kura comes amid longstanding concerns over inadequate water, sanitation and shelter facilities at the camp. Previous humanitarian assessments have also identified limited access to clean water and inadequate shelter as major challenges for residents.

Obi called for greater attention to the plight of displaced Nigerians, stressing the need for government and relevant stakeholders to strengthen humanitarian interventions and create conditions that would enable displaced persons to live with dignity.
