Anambra Government Tells Voters to Resist Peter Obi in 2027.

The Anambra State Government has urged voters in the state to reject the presidential bid of the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 general election.

The state government made the call on Monday through its official X account, managed by the New Media Office of Governor Charles Soludo. The government accused Obi of working against the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, the political party that produced him as governor of Anambra State.

In a graphic posted on its social media platform, the government described Obi as a โ€œbetrayalโ€ to APGA and urged members of the party, known locally as Ndi APGA, to resist his candidacy.

It alleged that Obi had pursued a mission to weaken APGA since 2014, while claiming that President Bola Tinubu stood by the party. The post stated that while Tinubu supported APGA in 2015, Obi backed the opposition in an attempt to undermine the party.

Governor Soludo had declared his support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election in 2025, citing their 22-year friendship and the Presidentโ€™s economic and structural reforms.

Speaking after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Soludo said his support for the President remained firm despite not being a member of the All Progressives Congress.

The governor described Tinubu as a friend and said Nigeria needed to remain on the path of economic reforms.

APGA subsequently endorsed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election in July.

The partyโ€™s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, said the decision followed consultations within the party and a resolution by its National Executive Committee.
