BREAKING: OYEBANJI DISSOLVES 2022–2026 EKITI EXECUTIVE COUNCIL AHEAD OF SECOND-TERM INAUGURATION

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has dissolved the State Executive Council for the 2022–2026 administration, ahead of his inauguration for a second term in office on Friday, October 16, 2026.

The development comes as the state prepares for the formal commencement of Oyebanji’s second term following his re-election in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.

However, the dissolution exempts three key officials in the governor’s administration: the Chief Press Secretary, the Chief of Staff, and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who are expected to retain their positions.

The decision marks a significant step in the transition from the outgoing administration’s first-term executive structure to the next phase of governance, with attention expected to shift towards the composition of the team that will work with the governor during his second term.

The retention of the three officials provides a measure of continuity in the administration’s core functions, including media relations and public communication, coordination of government activities, and the management of state government business.

Oyebanji, who assumed office on October 16, 2022, is set to begin another four-year term on Friday under the theme of his second-term inauguration, “The Good Work Continues.”

The governor has expressed optimism that his second term will deliver greater development and consolidate the achievements recorded during his first four years in office.

As preparations for the inauguration reach their final stage, the dissolution of the Executive Council is expected to generate further interest in the governor’s plans for the new administration, particularly regarding the appointment of commissioners and other political officeholders.

Further details on the dissolution, including any additional directives to affected members of the outgoing council, are expected from the state government.
