The Ekiti State Police Command has dismissed reports that African Action Congress presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, was kidnapped by armed thugs in Ado-Ekiti.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, said preliminary information showed that Sowore had an altercation with some individuals at a restaurant around the Dalimore area, following which the police were alerted.

He said police operatives swiftly responded and rescued Sowore, who sustained a minor injury and is receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital in Ado-Ekiti.

The Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a discreet investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

The Command has urged residents to remain calm and disregard reports of an alleged kidnapping.
