The Management of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, has reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare and industrial harmony, disclosing that it recently approved the promotion of 208 members of staff.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Research), Professor Foyeke Ibimilua, gave the assurance while addressing members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), who embarked on a peaceful march to the Wole Olanipekun Senate Building to express concerns over outstanding entitlements and other welfare-related issues.
Ibimilua, who spoke on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Omojola, acknowledged the concerns raised by the union and assured workers that management was making concerted efforts to address them within the administrative and financial capacity of the institution.
According to a statement signed by the university’s spokesperson, Temitope Akinbisoye, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor emphasised that management remained committed to maintaining a peaceful and productive working environment through dialogue, mutual understanding and respect.
She commended the non-academic staff for their contributions to the university’s growth, stability and pursuit of academic excellence, assuring them of management’s readiness to continue engaging constructively with recognised unions to resolve outstanding issues.
Ibimilua explained that the recent promotion of 208 staff members underscored the university’s commitment to staff welfare, career progression and professional development.
Earlier, the NASU Chairman, Comrade Ayotunde Ojo, appealed to the university management to expedite action on the payment of outstanding staff entitlements.
Ojo stressed the need for urgent attention to the issues raised by the union to prevent a possible industrial crisis.
The engagement, according to the university, reflects management’s preference for constructive dialogue and sustained consultation as measures to address workers’ concerns and preserve industrial harmony.
