The Federal Government has introduced stricter verification requirements for newly recruited civil servants, directing that no employee will be enrolled on the federal payroll without completing mandatory documentation and eligibility checks.
The directive, which takes immediate effect, is part of reforms to the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) aimed at preventing irregular payroll admissions and strengthening accountability in government spending.
The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation announced the new measures in a statement issued on Monday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa.
Under the arrangement, Ministries, Departments and Agencies must submit recruitment approvals, appointment letters and other supporting documents for verification before newly employed workers can be enrolled.
The verification will cover employees’ records, salary grades, allowances, pension details, National Housing Fund registration and tax information.
The Accountant-General of the Federation will retain final approval authority, while incomplete applications or records with unresolved discrepancies will be rejected or deferred.
Permanent Secretaries and heads of agencies have been directed to ensure strict compliance.
