INEC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Online Voter Registration Website.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fake website falsely claiming that nationwide online voter registration is ongoing.

The commission issued the warning in a public notice on Saturday, October 3, 2026, identifying the fraudulent website as pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com.

According to INEC, the website falsely announced a nationwide voter registration window running from September 28 to October 27, 2026.

The commission clarified that the platform is not affiliated with it and urged members of the public not to click on the link or submit personal information through the website.

INEC warned that interacting with the platform could expose users to the risk of having their sensitive personal information harvested or misused.

“The Commission further wishes to clarify that the voter registration exercise closed on 26th July 2026. Any information suggesting that a new nationwide online voter registration exercise is currently ongoing through the above-mentioned website is false,” the notice stated.

The fake website reportedly advertises what it describes as the “Final Phase of Nationwide Online Voter Card Registration,” offering services such as updating voter registration details, transferring registration to another polling unit, and replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).It also claims that voter registration and PVC delivery are free of charge.

INEC, however, urged Nigerians to disregard the claims and verify electoral information through the commission’s official communication channels.

The commission further advised citizens to remain vigilant against fraudulent online platforms that could exploit public interest in electoral activities.

The warning comes as the commission continues to encourage Nigerians to rely on verified sources for information concerning voter registration and other electoral processes.
