Ekiti Police Warn Motorcycle Riders Against Traffic Violations.

The Ekiti State Police Command has issued a strong warning to motorcycle riders across the state to desist from reckless riding and other traffic violations, following a rise in motorcycle-related accidents.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, the Command expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents linked to the disregard of traffic rules and regulations by some riders.

According to the statement, many motorcycle operators engage in dangerous practices such as over-speeding, reckless riding, dangerous overtaking and disobedience to traffic signals, thereby putting the lives of passengers, pedestrians and other road users at risk.

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Micheal, has consequently directed officers and personnel responsible for traffic enforcement to intensify patrols and ensure strict compliance with traffic laws across the state.

The police warned that any motorcycle rider found violating traffic regulations, particularly traffic lights and road signs, would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Command also appealed to passengers to play an active role in promoting road safety by cautioning riders against reckless behaviour and refusing to embark on journeys that could endanger their lives.

“Passengers are encouraged to report dangerous riding where necessary and avoid situations that expose them to unnecessary risks,” the statement noted.

Reiterating that road safety is a collective responsibility, the police urged all road users to exercise patience, discipline and respect for traffic regulations to reduce accidents and prevent loss of lives.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring the safety and security of residents across Ekiti State.
