The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has elevated the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Oyo State in the 2027 election, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to the traditional title of Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland.

Alli, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, announced the development in a statement posted on his X account on Saturday.

The senator said he was unable to attend the elevation ceremony held at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, because he is currently in the Holy Land for Umrah.

According to Alli, his latest elevation moves him from Ekarun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland to Ekerin Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland.

He expressed appreciation to Oba Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, as well as members of the Olubadan Advisory Council, for the confidence placed in him.

Alli also thanked the traditional and political figures who represented him at the ceremony, including Mogajis, traditional rulers, Baales, political associates and friends.

The APC candidate said his new position should be viewed as an increased responsibility to the people rather than simply an advancement in title.

He said the elevation had renewed his commitment to serving the people, promoting unity and contributing to the peace and development of Ibadanland.“A step up in rank is a step up in responsibility.“In Ibadanland, honour comes with service, and progression comes with greater responsibility to the people.

This elevation is therefore not simply a new title. It is a renewed call to serve, to listen, to unite and to contribute even more to the peace, progress and development of our people.
