Ondo Assembly Passes State Police Bill, Approves Transmission To National Assembly.

The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed the State Police Bill and approved its transmission to the National Assembly for further legislative consideration.

The House Leader, Olatunji Oshati, who moved the motion, said the lawmakers had considered the implications of the proposed amendment and its potential benefits to the public.

He said the establishment of state police would help address the country’s security challenges.

The motion was seconded by Allen Oluwatoyin, the APC lawmaker representing Ese-Odo State Constituency.

Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, described state police as long overdue, saying it would improve intelligence gathering, strengthen grassroots security and enable faster responses to crime.

The bill is expected to be transmitted to the National Assembly for further legislative consideration.
